Travel east through the fabulous Lancashire and Yorkshire countryside passing through the Gannow Tunnel (559 yards long) and on to Burnley Wharf and the Weavers Triangle. The canal continues through Burnley on the high level embankment (60 ft high) and on to Barrowford locks through the Foulridge Tunnel (1640 yards long) and the village of Foulridge.
This is the highest point of the canal and the locks descend from here on. The canal meanders on through Salterforth, Barnoldswick, Gargrave, and into the fabulous town of Skipton which has a good street market and a fine castle.
If you are on a two week hire you can continues down the Bingley five rise locks and on to Leeds. Information on canal side pubs, restaurants, carry-out food and other places of interest can be found on the boat.
